Christmas Miracles at Hedgehog Hollow By Jessica Redland {Book tour review}

Updated: Aug 12, 2023

Welcome to my blog, today I will be celebrating and reviewing the final book in the Hedgehog Hollow series. I have absolutely loved this series, the characters have become firm favourites and I am sad to see it come to a close. Never fear though, although this is a series it is possible to read this without having read the others in the series, plenty of back story is shared so that you can catch up with what has happened so far. However I highly recommend you go back and read the others too, as they are all fabulous!

If you are a regular reader of my blog or follow me on social media you will be aware how much I love books by Jessica Redland, she has fast become one of my favourite authors and I will always choose to read one of her books. So I was delighted to be offered a spot on this tour with Rachels Random resources Lets find out some more about the book!

It's the countdown to Christmas at Hedgehog Hollow Wildlife Rescue Centre, and everyone is gearing up for a festive season to remember...

It should be the most wonderful time of the year for Samantha and Josh as they prepare for the arrival of their first baby. But life at Hedgehog Hollow rarely goes to plan and the pair are faced with adversaries, old and new, and unexpected challenges to overcome.

Fizz's job at the heart of the rescue centre is a dream come true but her personal life is more like a nightmare. With her love life a disaster and her past about to dramatically catch up with her, she needs the love and support of her Hedgehog Hollow family more than ever.

As the snow falls over Hedgehog Hollow, will Samantha and Fizz find the Christmas miracle they need to overcome their heartache and find happiness?

I am so sad that this series has come to and end. I have loved getting to know all the characters and watching their journeys over the past few books. This one was no exception. Told from the point of view of Sam as always, but also Fizz, which I was especially excited about as I loved her character. Her story was no disappointment, it was full of bubbly unicorn glitz as you may expect but it was also harrowing in parts. A very large reveal and a lot of trauma to deal with meant there was a lot of information to take in and Jessica dealt with it in a very sensitive way. Demons from her past come to light and explain why she has had such difficulty finding love so far, and her past seems so at odds with her persona, yet also seems extremely fitting.

Sam's journey is also having some difficulties, the book begins with her and Josh expecting a baby and after the struggles they had in the previous book around whether she was ready for a family, this was a welcome beginning. It all seems to be going smoothly, but as we know that can never be the case. Throw in some Grimes drama, a hospital stay and concerns around a dear friend it seems Sam is going to have to work hard to get her happy ever after. I loved the way Jessica wrote Sam's story and how she dealt with being hospitalised towards the end of her term, and her description of 'Brenda' it was written so well and with so much feeling. It made total sense that it had been based on some of Jessicas own birth experiences. There was a very personal tone to the chapters.

The story made me smile and tugged at my heart strings in equal measure. It was bitter sweet, we had new life being formed and the loss of others, but everyones story was wrapped up in such a lovely way. I have always believed that the sight of a Robin means that your loved one is near so when this was brought into the story it made my heart sing.

The story was just gorgeous, all the storylines were brought together, and the whole book had such a warm and cosy Christmas feel even with the tougher storylines. There was a little tease at the end that suggested we may hear another untold story so all is not over. Thank goodness as I would have been gutted if we had seen the very last of the characters from Hedgehog Hollow!

Thanks so much for your gorgeous review, Bex. Delighted you enjoyed the final instalment of the Hedgehog Hollow series. Really appreciate your lovely comments about the series and I do agree with you that the books are best read in order and the full series in order to see the story grow and the characters develop x
