Hello and welcome to my blog, I have been absent for a while and am a little behind with some of my reviews. So today is the start of a catch up on the books I have read during March - starting with the one and only Legendary by Stephanie Garber.

Legendary by name and Legendary by Nature!!

𝐵𝓁𝓊𝓇𝒷

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever...

Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.

Oh I loved this book, I read it after I took part in a buddy read of Caraval. We loved the first book so much we instantly set up buddy reads for Legendary and Finale 😊 you can read my review of Caraval here.

This second book of the series continued with the journey of the sisters Dragna, however this book was told from the perspective of Donatella rather than Scarlett. After the first book I didn't have a lot of love for Donatella but Legendary made me change my opinion completely. The reasons for her actions in the first book became more clear and I began to understand her motives a lot more. I really started to root for her.

We meet many new characters in this book, Jack's is a devilishly roguish and extremely devious heir to the throne who sets his sights on Tella, when pitted against Dante, one of Legends performers, another wolfish character, we have two dark, twisty but delightful bad boys! But who will win the heart of our heroine? Or will she discard them both as problems preventing her from reaching her end goal? You will have to read it to find out but believe me the journey is a rollercoaster!

The world building is as fantastic as ever and it built a beautiful picture in my minds eye. Stephanie has such a way of describing the surroundings. They can be full of colour, dazzling and bewitching and then in the next breath you feel as if the light and air has been sucked out of your lungs, the colour is leeched and despair emanates from the pages. It keeps you gripped as much as the storyline and dialogue!

I highly recommend you pick this one up if you loved Caraval! You will need to read these books in order so if you haven't read it then bag the series pronto!!
