Updated: Aug 12, 2023

Hello and welcome to my blog this sunny day! How nice is it to finally have some sun in ole blighty?? The rain has certainly been putting a dampener on things, especially as it is has been the summer holidays! Anyway, back to the book - today I bring you a review of such a fun book, a perfect summer read for when you are basking in the rays by the pool or in your garden. Love to hate you by Camilla Isley is a great book to pack for your summer holidays, jaunty, sweet and funny it ticks all the boxes! Thanks to Rachels random resources for allowing me a spot on the tour and providing me with an ARC copy.

Goodbye New York! Hello… Cowboy?

If Samantha’s Baker’s life were as simple as one of the movies she produces, when she – a latte-loving city girl - gets banished to the country and fights with the local hunk cowboy soon afterwards they’d fall in love. But everyone knows the movies aren’t real life! (And just FYI, Mr Cowboy, it’s not gonna happen!)

Travis Hunt knows what it’s like to miss the city. He’s given up everything to take over the family ranch and become mayor of Emerald Creek. He has responsibilities. But how does he convince a gorgeous, hot-shot executive like Samantha to swap her stilettos for cowboy boots and her Friday night cocktails for country dance competitions? Small town life just can’t compete with all the hustle and bustle of New York City.

But what if it’s not where you are that you call home… What if it’s who you find while you’re there?

Please note that this title was originally published as Sweet Love and Country Roads.

This book was just adorable. After reading The love Theorem in June I knew I needed to read another of Camillas books, they are such a light easy read that you can become engrossed in and quite easily read in one sitting.

This book was just the same, I was easily drawn into the life of Sam Baker, hot shot movie producer, spending her time drinking expensive cocktails in ridiculously high stilettos, doing pilates at dawn and basically loving her NYC life. Thrown into life in the country Sam was appalled at the place she had to call home for 3 months, I loved how her NYC straight talking character never diminished despite falling for the town mayor and his mothers pet goat! She brought NYC to the country and it was all the better for it.

There was a lovely romance element, soft and sweet, not spicy but that was not necessary. I enjoy a non spicy romance it fills me with butterflies and smiles. Travis was a gorgeous character, he was strong, kind, honourable and dreamy to boot! The main characters interacted well and I enjoyed the fact that Christian Slade and Lara from The Love Theorem reappeared. I can see that there will be a lot of stand alone books with some of the characters reappearing throughout. These are some of my favourite style of books!

I will certainly be adding Camiillas other books to my TBR and think she will become one of my must read authors.
