Summer Nights at the Starfish Café

Welcome back to The Starfish Café for a glorious summer, but with a few dark clouds on the horizon...

A new beginning...

As her summer wedding to Jake approaches, Hollie is excited for their new beginning as a family. But when some unexpected news threatens the future she and Jake had hoped for, Hollie will need to find the strength to overcome heartache once more.

A fragile heart….

Single mum, Kerry, loves her job at The Starfish Café, but behind the brave smiles and laughter with customers there is a sadness deep within. So when someone from her past re-appears in her life, Kerry can either hide away or face her demons and try to finally move on from her heartbreak.

A summer to remember…

For Hollie and Kerry it promises to be an emotional rollercoaster of a summer, but the community at The Starfish Café will always be there to help them through - after all, with courage nothing is impossible…

Join top 10 bestseller Jessica Redland for a wonderful summer at the seaside, full of love, friendship and community spirit.

Oh Jessica, are you ever going to write a bad book? (I certainly doubt it!) I was so excited to rejoin Hollie and Jake in Whitsborough Bay as I have followed their story in both the prequels to this story. Reading this book felt like meeting old friends for a catch up again! I loved the arc of Hollie and Jakes characters and that we meet some new characters this time round.

Kerry was such a strong and capable mom, she seemed to be able to cope whatever life threw at her, however is her reappearing ex husband just one thing too much? I loved the dynamic between the two and how fearless she seemed when it came to protecting her children, she was a proper momma bear and I loved to witness her strength and love for her family.

Delving into the character of Artie was a lovely tangent too, he has obviously appeared in the previous books as he works at the RNLI station with Jake, however we get to meet him more this time round and I loved the characters storyline.

Larissa was a breath of fiery angst and it was very satisfying watching her development throughout the story. I honestly felt her hatred of Jake pouring out of the pages in any scene she was in.

The thing I love about Jessicas book series is that she always follows through the journey of the main character from the setting, in this case Hollie. However there is always a new character to meet within every story which continues to build the sense of community and family. Also I always find I am learning something in her books! With the Hedgehog Hollow series I learnt so much about what to do and not to do with wild hedgehogs, with the Starfish Cafe series I learnt so much about safety at sea and the work of the RNLI. It really is a treat to learn all these interesting things. I will certainly never buy an inflatable dinghy for my son to use on the beach!

This story was heart warming, happy, full of friendship and love, but also looked at grief and the loss from miscarriage, this was written about in a very sensitive manner. As usual Jessica has smashed it out of the park and I look forward to seeing what more will happen with Hollie and Jake and the other inhabitants of Whitsborough Bay.

Jessica Redland writes emotional but uplifting stories of love, friendship, family and community. Her Whitsborough Bay books transport readers to the stunning North Yorkshire Coast where she lives with her husband, daughter and sprocker spaniel. Her Hedgehog Hollow series, set in a hedgehog rescue centre, takes readers into the beautiful rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds.
