A life and wellness update from Bex books and Stuff

Hello to my wonderful readers, it's been a while hasn't it? I haven't been on my blog much and I have missed it, but life has been so hectic lately I have really struggled to find my writing mojo!

The summer holidays were absolutely non stop, I am so lucky as a teacher to have the holidays off, but finding ways to entertain a 6 year old for 6 weeks can be somewhat exhausting!! I absolutely love it and wouldn't change it for the world, but that doesn't mean I don't find it very tiring!

So moving from the holidays straight into a new term at school has been very intense. We have had so many new things to look into at work, I have started a forest school course and I am also trying to focus a lot on my role as English lead so it has been a busy start to the school year.

All that has caused a bit of a life overwhelm to be honest! It has taken me a while to find the energy to do anything that isn't work related, hence the length of time I have been away from my blog. Even my reading went downhill, I only managed two books in September. I got half way through a read-a-long and still haven't managed to finish it, I missed a spot on a book tour and I got very behind on a book club book! Honestly it has really got to me and I feel a little adrift without my reading and my blog. I have realised it is hugely linked with my mental health and I need to read to relax and get rid of my day. I have also realised though that I was reaching burnout with all the expectations I put on my self. I was taking on too much when it came to book tours and author requests, reading was becoming a chore which was no good.

A pile of books with a pair of glasses on the top

So with that in mind I have decided to take a little break from that side of reading. I want to read for pleasure, go back to mood reading and just take what I fancy off my shelves. I want to have no time restraints, no commitments so I can review and talk about books at my leisure. I will still read ARC books and review them, mainly from Netgalley or Boldwood books, as well as reading author requests (especially clearing my backlog of current requests) but hopefully my blog will full of lots of other things, book and non-book related.

Once life and school work calms down a bit I hope to have more time for my creative side and that should become apparent on here!

Is there anything in particular you readers might want to see on here? Any particular topics you would like me to discuss? If so do let me know in the comments!!
