Weekly round up 29/10

Hello and welcome to my blog! I may have missed a weekly round up last week, my last few weeks at school have been so busy and I just didn't have time to breathe. However now it is half term and I am looking forward to a lovely wind down and some fun halloween activities! Hubby and little one carved some fab pumpkins for this year. Although they possibly did them a little early as they are beginning to disintegrate 🤣 come on guys you only have three more days to last!!

We have some great days out planned for the half term break, I look forward to sharing them with you!

Screen showing Jurassic Park with live orchestra in front of it

Last week I had a delightful weekend treat, my brother took me to see Jurassic Park LIVE in Concert, it was the film on the big screen accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. It was AMAZING! The music made such a difference to the tension of the film, a lot of the time it was in the background and it was easy to forget it was live but then it would swell during the key scenes. When they were flying into Jurassic Park on the helicopter I got goosebumps! That final scene with the raptors.... WOW. The whole thing was phenomenal and if you ever get a chance to see it I highly recommend it!! I know there are lots of Christmas shows like this so I hope to go to one of those this year if I can!

Only one post on the blog this week, it was my intention to join this years HoHoHo Readathon hosted by Kimbacaffenaite. Hop over to my post and find out more about the challenge. I have done it a few times but never managed to read many. Maybe this year will be the one where I succeed?!

Copy of Day Shift by Charlaine Harris surrounded by spiders

I finished Day Shift by Charlaine Harris this week. When I borrowed it from the library I had't realised that it had been turned into a TV show called Midnight Texas which I actually watched a few years ago. So it was fun to revisit the characters from that town! I also realised it was the second in the series so I have now borrowed Midnight Crossroads to get the back story of Manfred. Having seen the show I knew about that characters so it didn't matter that the book was mid way through the series, however none of the story had been aired on the show so I got to read something new!

I have moved onto The Woman in the window by A.J Finn, it has started in a very intriguing way, I'm excited to see where it is going, I have a lot of questions already and I am only a few chapters in.

I've not found any new series yet, I did try Schitts Creek but I have to say it doesn't do it for me, sorry to all those who think its hilarious. I gave up after a few episodes as I just didn't find it funny. Instead I have watched Clifford the big red dog with my son. I have to say that one was a winner for both of us!! I'm hoping he will want to watch hocus pocus with me this halloween as it is one of my childhood favourites!

Continuing with my podcast journey I am still listening to The infinite monkey cage, they have some great topics. I am also enjoying Podcrushed by Penn Badgely, he and two friends talk to people about their time in middle school, their loves and heartbreaks in their formative years. They have some great guests and end up talking about a lot of great things, recently I have listened to the episode with Matthew McConaughey and an episode with Jameela Jamil, both were really fun and interesting to listen to.

This week I have been to the physiotherapist about my knee (I twisted it falling down some stairs on holiday a few months ago) thankfully they seem to think it is healing well and have given me some exercises and things to do at the gym to help it so I am continuing with my gym sessions. Hopefully I will be able to strengthen it up in no time.

Meeting up with friends has also been a huge part of my self care this week, some friends came up to visit who have moved down south so we met them for a walk and to get the kids back together and it was absolutely lovely! We walked through the peak district, through fog and rain into sunny moments. The children fell in mud and danced In puddles while we watched them laughing. It was just joyful and always a pleasure being with my crew.

I would have absolutely loved the Jurassic Park show. We've been to a fair few orchestra performances of John Williams and Hans Zimmer scores in The Royal Albert Hall and the Festival Hall in London and obviously they always play Jurassic Park as it's such a classic film and score but a whole performance dedicated to it sounds amazing!

Yes I've been to one like that before, all the classical movies in live orchestra is just amazing!

Wow! Are those real mushrooms? I've never seen those in person, always thought they were just overexaggerated when I saw them in pictures/movies, etc. They have done the Harry Potter movies live with the orchestra like that and I've always wanted to go. Jurassic Park sounds so cool too! I still need to finish the last two books in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Harris. Everyone seems to love Schitt's Creek, but I can't seem to make myself interested enough to even give it a try. Oh well. Hope you have a good week!
