MONSTERS DON’T ALWAYS HAVE CLAWS AND FANGS …
Protecting innocents in the mortal world is not a job to be taken lightly, and life for the Younglings is spiralling back to Crazyville.
The Supernatural Council has their back, but it’s chaos out there.
Stranded spirits, rogue vampires and demons are bad enough, now merciless witch hunters are stalking the team’s witch, Millie.
Eve’s angelic blood is like a siren call—one a tenacious vampire tracker cannot ignore.
Can the Younglings protect their own?
It’s hard to know who’s the good guy and who’s the enemy.
Sometimes monsters hide in plain sight.
FIRE & MAGIC is the second book in THE YOUNGLINGS series. An action packed, gripping full length coming of age, YA paranormal fantasy. It will transport urban fantasy fans to a fascinating supernatural world within our own, filled with magic, suspense, danger, sizzling adventure, a large dose of humour, and thrilling paranormal romance.
The Younglings:
Book 1: Shadows & Magic
Book 2: Fire & Magic
** It’s up with my favourite reads ‘From Blood and Ash’ ‘Discovery of Witches’ and ‘True Blood’ **
** These characters are honestly in my heart to stay, much like ‘Angel’ and the ‘Charmed’ sisters all these years later **
** The Younglings are like a modern and way hotter Scooby squad. **
** A demon, angel, werewolf, half-vampire, witch, and ghost?! Plus there's a LGBTQ+ rep, which is perfect **

Well Helena, Bravo, you have achieved another fabulous novel which was just a joy to read from beginning to end. This book is the sequel to The Younglings: Shadows and Magic and while it is always good to read a complete series, you would still be able to pick this one up had you not read the first one. There is enough explanation of things that happened in the first book to allow you to follow the story. You can read my review of the first book in the series here, and if you haven't read it I highly recommend you get out there and purchase it!!
This month I have been a part of a full month long read a long with some other bookstagrammers. We read the book and answered 12 questions set by the author Helena M Craggs. It was such fun, the questions really made me think about the book and the themes within it! If you want to have a read of some of these questions head across to my instagram grid and find out more!
We pick up where we left of with our favourite teenage supernatural crew. In this book they are all beginning to deal with their purpose and realising that their squad is something that is completely necessary to help fight the darker dealings of the world. Yet while coming to terms with this, they also still behave like the teenagers that they are, which is refreshing. I find sometimes that a lot of YA has teenagers who speak in a way that almost seems too complex, they are always exceptionally clever and usually come across as adults in teenagers bodies. What I love about Helena's books is she actually writes the characters as teenagers, they have an immaturity in their language, the way Quinn speaks sometimes is just hilarious. You can tell that he is still young and finding his feet. I find this a really positive aspect of these novels.
There are a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs and falling out throughout this book. The teenagers act like, well teenagers, and make mistakes, have mix ups and issues due to a lack of communication. Yet they come together to fight when needed and are able to work through their problems (well some of them). They are a spectacular team and work together so well when it is needed. They also have an incredible bond with the humans in their lives and I love that they support them too even though they don't fully understand the full ins and outs of it all.
We meet some new characters, some very despicable supernatural souls and some highly suspect humans! We have witch hunters, vampire assassins and demonic characters arising and there is never a dull moment! The ending was a twist I did not see coming, I am extremely excited to find out what is going to happen in Book 3 of the series!!
If you enjoy supernatural vibes, witches, vampires, werewolves, demons and more then this a series you need to pick up. It has everything you could want in a book, excitement, danger, sass, humour and romance. What's not to love?
