My bookish May wrap up

Updated: Aug 12, 2023

Hello book loving folks, I hope you are well!! I can't believe we are half way through the year already, how is it June?? I thought it would be nice to share with you my May reads. It was a great month of reading this month, I read 9 books which is pretty amazing considering how busy the month has been at work and at home! All the books have been fantastic and I highly recommend them! So let's delve in to what books you should be adding to your TBR asap.....

𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕠𝕣 𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕖 𝕓𝕪 ℙ𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕚𝕒 𝕄𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕠𝕤𝕙

I read this book so quickly - it was such a fun and entertaining read. I loved the characters and the banter and really enjoyed following Serena and Ziggys relationship. They had such a fantastic love hate vibe going on! Lots of laugh out loud moments and overall a corker of a book. You can read my review here

𝒪𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝓊𝓅𝑜𝓃 𝒶 𝒷𝓇𝑜𝓀𝑒𝓃 𝒽𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝒷𝓎 𝒮𝓉𝑒𝓅𝒽𝒶𝓃𝒾𝑒 𝒢𝒶𝓇𝒷𝑒𝓇

This book was a read as a readalong with my Insta buddies. We read the Caraval series and have now moved onto this series. I cannot wait to start the readalong for book 2, I'm just waiting for my preorder copy to arrive! I loved this book, Jacks is the main character in his one although we do see a brief appearance of Donatella and Scarlett to explain what has happened since the aftermath of Caraval. Jacks is as dastardly as ever, I had a real soft spot for him in the last books and am so glad we get to see another side of him. I am very much enjoying seeing how his relationship with Evangeline is evolving, although there are many twists and secrets present as ever in Stephanies books! I highly recommend this series and if you love world building and fantastical, magical worlds I suggest you read the Caraval trilogy first although it is not completely necessary.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝔼𝕩 ℍ𝕖𝕩 𝕓𝕪 𝔼𝕣𝕚𝕟 𝕊𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘

This was a great fun, whimsical read. There was a lot of magic, banter and curses which kept me entertained. The relationships between Vivi and her family as well as Rhys were great, they had a fantastic dynamic. I picked up a copy of this from the works and I look forward to reading the sequel. You can read my review here.

𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒮𝒾𝓁𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝓁𝒶𝒹𝒾𝑒𝓈 𝒹𝑜 𝓁𝓊𝓃𝒸𝒽 𝒷𝓎 𝒥𝓊𝒹𝓎 𝐿𝑒𝒾𝑔𝒽

I read this one as a part of the blog tour hosted by Rachels Random Resources, it was a great read. I love reading about older ladies and how they are still feisty and fantastic in their later life. I only hope I am as glamorous as Miss Hamilton when I'm 90! You can read my review here.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕟𝕘𝕝𝕚𝕟𝕘𝕤: 𝕄𝕒𝕘𝕚𝕔 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕄𝕒𝕪𝕙𝕖𝕞 𝕓𝕪 ℍ𝕖𝕝𝕖𝕟𝕒 ℂ𝕣𝕒𝕘𝕘𝕤

Oh I LOVED this book, I cannot recommend this series enough. If you love YA, fantasy with demons, angels, werewolves, vampires and ghosts then look no further! Helena has built a fabulous world for these characters and I am so invested in how they are going to finish their journey together. You can read my review here.

𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒮𝒾𝓍𝓉𝒽 𝒮𝑒𝓇𝓊𝓂: 𝒞𝓁𝒶𝒾𝓇𝓋𝑜𝓎𝒶𝓃𝓉𝓈 𝒷𝓎 𝐵𝓇𝒶𝒹𝓎 𝑀𝑜𝑜𝓇𝑒

Again another series that I have fully enjoyed reading. This was the last book in the series and you do need to read the others to follow what is happening with Rion and the rest of his crew. However they are worth a read if you enjoy YA books with a lot of suspense and action. You can read my review here.

𝔾𝕙𝕠𝕤𝕥𝕤 𝕓𝕪 𝔻𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕪 𝔸𝕝𝕕𝕖𝕣𝕥𝕠𝕟

This was my first book written by Dolly Alderton, although I have wanted to read her work for a while as I have seen it all over the place. I enjoyed this book, it was a bit of a slow burner for me to get into to begin with but i soon got into the flow and enjoyed watching the characters journeys. I thought there were sensitive topics discussed well although i did get quite annoyed with our main character due to the way she acted in a certain situation. You can read my review here.

𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓉𝓈𝓉𝑜𝓅𝓅𝑒𝓇 𝒷𝓎 𝒜𝓁𝒾𝒸𝑒 𝒪𝓈𝑒𝓂𝒶𝓃

I have seen this book all over instagram and other places and so it has been on my TBR for a while. However in all the times I saw this book, I did not realise it was a graphic novel! (I know have I been hiding under a rock?!) Now that is not my favourite type of book to be honest, I've never really got on with them. However I gave it a go and I was happy to say I found the story cute, sweet and it put a smile on my face. Unfortunately not enough that I will read the rest of the series but it was a lovely book that I read quickly.

𝔸 𝕞𝕚𝕕𝕝𝕚𝕗𝕖 𝕓𝕒𝕓𝕪 𝕓𝕪 ℂ𝕒𝕣𝕪𝕤 𝕁 ℍ𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕤𝕠𝕟

This book is the second in the midlife trilogy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I have read the first book in the series 'A midlife holiday' and i found that fun, this second book was actually better. I really started to feel closer to the characters and began to understand them more. The book covers a lot of sad topics but they are discussed well and there are lots of emotional moments as well as some laugh out loud ones! You can read my review here.

So there you have it, a great selection of books that I have read over the month of May. Have you read any of these books? Will you be adding any to your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
